![]() ![]() And crucify me for even considering that company from Louisiana. A major retailer has it priced the same as the Studiolive, too. The dante card is expensive too, and losing the usb out to install the card means that we're going to need a dante interface too if we go that route. Menu scrolling with the knobs seems tedious. It seems like its relatively similar to AVB, but only plays nice with products in the family. I'm also unsure about their native CAT6 protocol and how flexible it is. Also only having a 32x32 interface is potentially restrictive going forward. I need at least 5 years and probably closer to 10 for it to be worth it. The design is like 7 years old, and a recent price drop makes me wonder how long it has left. The M32 is a standard at this level for many reasons, though a few things give me pause. My biggest question is if I can get around the lower recording sample rate with the AVB, like can I plug it into another device as a computer IO, or even directly in to a pc ethernet port? Would that even raise the sample rate? It's a definite contender, even though I know this board has a disdain for all things presonus. AU Lab works weird imo, maybe because I am still new to it but I hate having to change my sound drivers when using it. 1.0.4 is available for those who purchased the application through their website but I, well.did not do that. Also, its a relatively new model, I think this revision came out in 2019. For some reason, it seems like the latest Mavericks update has killed my copy of 32 Lives 1.0.3. They even have some dante support now with a new switcher. Doing a lot of the programming with a pc instead of the tiny screen is nice too. It would be nice to expand our tracking capacity without going for an entirely new board. The other cool thing is the 64圆4 recording interface, though I'm not sure how I feel about the 44hz sitch. Native AVB support is pretty cool, though I will be the first to admit that the protocol isn't used by that many OEMs. We're already familiar with their software package and basic workflow, though we do use ableton as our main DAW. The presonus has a few things going for it. We usually bring our board to most gigs to record the show and mix down later. ![]() We only have an engineer for shows, most recording we do on our own. ![]() Many of you have moved to a 64-bit OS and said goodbye to some of your favourite 32-bit plug-ins. We record and perform with our board, so great functionality on both fronts is ideal. SoundRadix have posted an important update to one of their most useful products, 32 Lives, its 32 to 64-bit Audio Unit and VST plug-ins adapter for Mac to version 2.02. We're looking at something with 32+ channels and native multitrack capabilities, and have it narrowed down to the venerable Midas M32Live or the Presonus Studiolive 32s. Getting it into a Thunderbolt io is dumb. Our first gen Studiolive is at the far end of its life, with all channels used up and the need for more as well as firewire well beyond the end of its life cycle. Long story short, it's new board time for the band. I already know what yall are going to say, but might as well ask anyways, right? ![]()
